Christmas in March?

Here we all are, at home, by ourselves, suffering away at our crafting tables...Yeah, not really suffering, right?

It's the time of social distancing for the Covid-19 virus so I thought I'd post to keep things lively. These cards are using the same die cuts 2 ways. The first is the traditional method, you cut it out and glue it on a pretty background. In this case I blended colors for the background.

For this card I made a mask with the punched die cuts and created a background for the buildings and then put the people in front. I again created the background with blended inks.

These will go in my stash to be used in a few months, preferably after Halloween, lol!

Otterly Love

I have a new stamp/die cut set of otters and sentiments. I took them to my Friday morning art group and worked on them there. Elements used are paper tearing, stamping, coloring, die cutting and all is placed on my handmade paper card stock. Here are 2 cards I made using this set.

I love the colors that actually show up on the picture for a change.

Blending colors

A member of the art group on Fridays is a new friend, Kathy Scott. She works with acrylic paint pouring and her pieces come out beautiful.

Last week when she was experimenting, she had quite a bit of paint runoff that can't be reused. I happened to have a nice stack of glossy card stock with me so I dipped and pulled and rubbed some of the excess on. It was so messy, they had to live in the art room closet overnight to dry.

The resulting pieces are very pretty and here are four cards that I have produced so far. I'm so pleased with the beautiful colors! Thank you Kathy for letting me play!

Thanks for stopping by to look. Barbara

River Art Group

In our large subdivision we have a relatively new and redone community center/clubhouse. It has really taken off as a fun place to congregate and get together and even share a meal.

On Friday's I join a host of other artists that create and chat as we each work on, comment on and critique each others works.

The community clubhouse has graciously given us a wall to display our art pieces and this is what I contributed as something to show a few pieces of my handmade paper along with a few sample cards.

A lot of work went into creating this space with a nice sampling of the works of all who contributed. I sat by and offered my scissors and tape and cheered them on, lol!

At any rate it is special for them to include my little poster in the mist of the beautiful art works. Thanks to all who helped!

Blessings, Barbara

Halloween

Although my husband and I don't 'celebrate' Halloween, we enjoy the laughter of children when they get to dress up and come to our door for candy. However, living now on an acre+ lot means not many children really come to our door anymore. So to have fun with it anyway, I made this card and sent it to my Mom-in-Law to give her a smile.

This cute witch looks like she found a surprise in the smiling pumpkin. She was die cut from a jet black piece of velveteen card stock so really stood out. The paper and die cuts are from different miscellaneous companies of which I can't remember! The funny part was my husband. He looked at it and said the fence on the left hand side is crooked, what a shame. Some times guys just don't get the subtlety of art do they, lol!
